Vero Lake Estates Emergency & Fire Protection Information and Needs Assessments

In November 2009 Susan Thomasson, Past President of VLEPO did a presentation to ESDAC in request of a Fire Station for Vero Lake Estates and the Central Eastern District 1 of Indian River County.

The residents in the VLE area and those parents who have children in Treasure Coast Elementary School, Sebastian Sr. High School and Sebastian Middle School as well as parents who take their children to the Indian River County Parks and North County Pool should be concerned with the response times for Emergency Fire and Ambulance. The closest Fire Station since the hurricanes in 2004 is the station in Sebastian Highlands, with increased traffic and increased population in Vero Lake Estates and surrounding areas combined with school buses, etc. coupled with the distance from that station; our children and our families are at great and serious risk in an emergency situation. If your house catches on fire for any reason - plan on moving - the current response times in most cases will not save a majority of the homes in VLE; and if you or your husband is having a heart attack - kiss them good bye!
