Sheriff Dept. Annouces New Crime Website

Sign up with your address and get the crime reports within about 24 hrs of it happening!  What a wonderful effort and tool by the Indian River County Sheriff's Office to keep it's citizens informed and alert!

The VLE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH can work!

The residents of VLE are watching out for their neighbors, watching their neighborhood and calling 911 with suspicious activities, cars and/or behaviors.  Our residents are beginning to take a more active role in making and keeping our community safe. We must continue to take positive measures to keep the burglaries and thefts down.

Residents, to deter these crimes take positive measures before you become a victim:

  • Lock your house
  • Lock your cars
  • Keep valuables out of view in your cars
  • Close your garage doors  - whether you are home or not
  • Install outside lights or motion sensor lights
  • Secure your homes-espeically your sliding glass doors , there are locking mechanisms to deter  lifting of the doors out of the tracks
  • Secure your doggy doors
  • Notify a neighbor if your are going on vacation and leave a number to be reached in an emergency
  • Know where your children are and that they are safe!
  • CALL 911 WITH ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS!
The VLE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH has more than 35 Block Captains signed up to watch their neighborhoods; these Block Captains have decided they care enough about their families, homes, neighbors, and VLE, to watch and report anything that may be suspicious and/or unusual activity.  We, as neighbors, thank them for helping keep ourselves, our homes and our families safe!

The VLE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH has had numerous informative meetings in co-operation with the Sheriff’s department – our block captains learned what crimes were happening in VLE and how to stop this type of activity. We need more people who will volunteer to care about their friends, neighbors and especially the children in VLE.

Help keep VLE a safe place to live and raise a family!
Keep those who chose to challenge the law under control and out of our neighborhood!
